Elementary & Middle School Math Tutor

Part-Time$17.50-$22.50 per hour

Work with elementary and middle school students in a warm, structured learning environment where math starts to make sense. You will guide students through customized Mathnasium learning plans, offer encouragement, and help them build confidence with the skills that matter most at this stage.

  • Guide students through foundational skills: number sense, fractions, multiplication, and pre-algebra
  • Use prepared Mathnasium materials and learning plans - no lesson planning or grading
  • Best fit for patient, encouraging people who enjoy working with elementary and middle school students

What You'll Do

  • Work in person with students in grades K–8 on foundational math concepts through pre-algebra
  • Keep students engaged, focused, and motivated using positive reinforcement and interactive learning
  • Work with 1–3 students at a time, guiding them through personalized learning plans
  • Use our structured teaching method—no need to prep materials or lessons
  • Encourage progress and celebrate student successes

What We're Looking For

  • You're comfortable with math through pre-algebra (we'll train you on how to teach it our way)
  • You enjoy working with kids and know how to keep them focused, positive, and feeling successful
  • You're dependable, upbeat, and can follow a clear structure
  • You're available at least two consistent days per week
  • This is an in-person position—you'll be part of the center team, not tutoring remotely

Schedule

Part-time: Minimum 2 days per week. Mon–Thurs: 4:00–8:00 p.m., Sat: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Middle & High School Math Tutor

Part-Time$17.50-$22.50 per hour

Support middle and high school students as they strengthen skills from pre-algebra through precalculus. This role is about more than checking answers: you will help students understand the reasoning behind each step, build confidence with harder material, and feel successful in math again.

  • Support students from pre-algebra through Algebra II, geometry, and precalculus topics
  • Help teens understand why math works, not just how to get the answer
  • Best fit for strong communicators who can make challenging math feel approachable

What You'll Do

  • Work with grades 6–12 students on middle school math through pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and precalculus
  • Use the Mathnasium Method to guide students through personalized learning materials (we provide all training and materials)
  • Help students stay focused, ask questions, and build confidence
  • Work with 1–3 students in an engaging, in-person center environment
  • Track progress and celebrate student wins—big and small

What We're Looking For

  • Strong understanding of math through at least Algebra II; higher-level math is a plus
  • Friendly, patient, and able to build rapport with teens
  • Able to explain math concepts clearly and encourage students along the way
  • Comfortable following a structured teaching method (training provided)
  • Available to work at least two consistent shifts per week
  • Must be able to work in person during our center hours

Lead Instructor

Part-Time$22.50-$25.00 per hour

Take on a larger teaching and shift-leadership role supporting students across K-12 math levels while helping the center run strong instructionally. You will work directly with students, manage instructional flow, and coach instructors in the moment so each session stays productive and encouraging.

  • Lead the instructional floor during shifts, including student flow, pacing, and transitions
  • Teach across K-12 math levels while modeling the Mathnasium Method for the team
  • Best fit for someone ready to coach instructors, support students, and take ownership during busy center hours

What You'll Do

  • Instructional Leadership: Teach students across K-12 math levels using the Mathnasium Method while modeling strong instructional habits for the team
  • Floor Management: Help manage student flow, help cards, seating, pacing, and transitions so sessions run smoothly
  • Instructor Support: Serve as the first point of support for instructors during shift and provide clear, in-the-moment coaching
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor student binders, learning plan progress, and work accuracy, and flag concerns to center leadership
  • Student & Family Experience: Maintain positive, professional interactions with students and families and help create a welcoming center environment
  • Center Operations: Support material prep, organization, cleaning, and shift task completion as part of the center team

What We're Looking For

  • Math Proficiency: Strong command of mathematics from K-12, including advanced high school math, with calculus experience a plus
  • Experience: Previous teaching, tutoring, Mathnasium, or instructional leadership experience is highly preferred
  • Communication & Coaching: Clear verbal communication skills and comfort giving real-time support and constructive feedback to instructors
  • Floor Management: Able to manage multiple students, priorities, and team needs at once while staying organized and calm
  • Reliability: Must be reliable, punctual, and able to commit to at least 4 of the 5 weekly open shifts, plus preparation time before opening
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree (or pursuing one) in a related field (Mathematics, Education, Engineering, etc.) is strongly preferred

Assistant Center Director

Part-Time$22.50-$25.00 per hour

Support Center Directors across our Capital Region centers in a management-track role focused on parent communication, scheduling, enrollment follow-up, and daily center execution. This is different from the Lead Instructor path: you will have some instructional oversight, but the role is more parent-facing and operations-focused than math-instruction focused.

What You'll Do

  • Center Director Support: Provide hands-on support to Center Directors across multiple Capital Region Mathnasium centers
  • On-Site Coverage: Step in when a center needs extra leadership support, including when a Center Director is unavailable
  • Parent Communication: Support parent calls, follow-up, concern resolution, and day-to-day family communication
  • Enrollment & Retention Support: Assist with lead follow-up, enrollment conversations, and retention touchpoints under center leadership direction
  • Operations Coordination: Help with scheduling, staffing coordination, cleanliness, materials, and daily center workflows
  • Student Experience Support: Help monitor the student experience and session flow, while escalating instructional concerns to Center Directors or Lead Instructors

What We're Looking For

  • Management Track: Interest in learning how to support and help run a center, including operations, parent communication, and team coordination
  • Customer Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with comfort making parent or customer calls
  • Operational Judgment: Able to prioritize, follow through, and keep details moving in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment
  • Flexibility: Able to support multiple Capital Region centers based on coverage needs
  • Education Environment: Experience in education, tutoring, service, operations, or a similar people-focused environment is preferred. Advanced math background is not required
  • Mathnasium Fit: Positive, dependable, organized, and committed to helping students and families have an excellent experience

Schedule

Part-time management-track support role, approximately 30 hours per week, with afternoon/evening and Saturday availability required. Schedule may include coverage across Clifton Park, Niskayuna, Loudonville, and Westmere based on center needs.
